A chair is considered to be the most simple yet complicated structure Taking material, struc

ture, form and ergonomic need into consideration, the process of designing a chair is similar

to architecture design. Many architects chose the form "chair" to convey their design concept.

It also makes a perfect prototype for structural research before larger scale practice.

This Bio-Inspired Chair design starts from the chair prototype and biomimetic structure re

search. By defining the optimization boundary conditions , an optimized structure would be

generated based on ergonomic need respectively. The refined work which featured unique

organic form is further applied for 3D metal printing technique research.
